Oh. My. Goodness. I have been soooo bad at keeping up on my blog! When I looked back and saw that my last post was in July, I could hardly believe it, but indeed, that was the last time. As many of you know, I have a full time career outside of photography, so I am in this business because I absolutely love it and it gives me incredible energy! However, much to my surprise, I have discovered that there are only 24 hours in a day, and sometimes I guess I just need to sleep! As a result, when something has to give, my blogging is the thing that seems to fall to the bottom of the pile.
My blog silence does not mean I’ve been lying around eating bon bons, however…2016 was a fabulous year, and I am looking forward to another great year in 2017! I made the decision in early 2016 to focus on photographing high school seniors. Because I am limited in the amount of time I have available, I wanted to make sure that I was spending time doing the type of photography I love the most, and for me that is high school seniors and individual portraits, including small families and business headshots. There is just something about working one on one with people that I love, so focusing there felt like the right fit.
In 2016 I also introduced the Deb Mitzel Photography Senior Model Team. This year’s team is a group of beautiful, energetic, and talented young women – I’m sure you’ve seen some of their talents and accomplishments highlighted on my social media accounts over the past year. By the way, if you’re not already following me, I’m @dmitzphoto on Instagram and Deb Mitzel Photography on Facebook. I’m also @dmitzphoto on Twitter, but I don’t post there as much. Ok, back to the Model Team…from sports to academics, and other pursuits, these ladies have had many accomplishments over the past year, and I have been very honored to be there to document many of them. There will be more to come from them before they graduate, but I am also excited to get to know and work with a new group of seniors for the Class of 2018 Senior Model Team, which will be forming soon. My goal for every senior I work with, whether on my Model Team or not, is to help them create a memorable and meaningful experience that they will remember fondly long after the session is over. I like to get to know my clients personally, so what is important to them is important to me. I love seeing my seniors in action – running triathlons, playing basketball, competing in gymnastics, playing powder puff football, getting ready for Prom and gathering with friends for Christmas ball – these moments in their life are important, and I am honored to be there to document them!
Thank you to all of you who follow me on social media and comment on the photos I post. It is heartwarming to hear your kind words, and know that you enjoy seeing some of the images as much I enjoy creating them. I appreciate you more than you know, so Thank You! Stay tuned for more great stories and images in 2017….and maybe even a few more blog posts!! Here are some of my seniors in action in the past year..
